The course consists of 10 sessions with very rich content, focusing on the knowledge and skills necessary for deal-makers. Throughout the learning process, Mr. Vinh always teaches in a very systematic manner, starting from the general to the specific, always applying theory to real case studies. Through this, I have a deeper understanding and mastery of the key concepts. At the same time, Mr. Vinh always emphasizes that alongside professional knowledge, the nurturing of soft skills and a good attitude are extremely important. A good deal-maker is someone who embodies all these elements.
Before attending the course, my understanding of the profession of private equity (PE) and investment banking (IB) was extremely limited. After completing the course, I truly have broadened my horizons, understanding what PE-IB entails and recognizing the shortcomings that I need to improve upon if I want to go further in this profession. In addition to teaching, Mr. Vinh also provides advice and shares experiences accumulated over the years of working in the profession, which for me, are invaluable and greatly appreciated.
The most correct thing I did in 2024 was to enroll in this course and meet Mr. Vinh – someone who has inspired me greatly in my career. In the future, when Mr. Vinh launches the next Associate-level PE-IB course, I will definitely enroll to upgrade myself, refine my specialized knowledge, and listen to the valuable lessons of experience from him.
The course has expanded my understanding of the PE-IB field, with Mr. Vinh imparting invaluable insights into the mindset and skillset essential for deal-making. While seemingly minor, these nuances are crucial in this industry, enhancing my abilities both in the present and for future endeavors within PE-IB.
The course content is comprehensive, spanning 10 sessions that encapsulate nearly every aspect of a PE-IB analyst’s daily duties. While some topics may not be groundbreaking to all, Mr. Vinh’s structured slides and supplementary materials have been instrumental in organizing my knowledge, fostering a deeper understanding of job intricacies, and refining my professional skills. Even tasks as seemingly straightforward as Word, PowerPoint, or Financial Modeling are approached with a standardized framework by Mr. Vinh, ensuring clarity and completeness in the final product.
The course content is extremely close to real work. The course provided me with: (1) an insider’s perspective on the daily work of a professional buyside analyst/IB, (2) a mindset for a long-term career in the industry, and potential career transition opportunities, (3) a place to ‘return to’ in terms of expertise, with a helpful instructor and a lovely community of peers. The Analyst course is genuinely worth studying for those with limited experience or those who want a better understanding of the industry. If you’re new to the field, it can really be said to be a course that will save you 1-2 years of work experience.
Mr. Vinh conveys information simply and easily to understand. He answers questions in a detailed and specific manner. Thank you, Mr. Vinh, for sharing your experience and knowledge in the course. The course helped me gain direction and a clearer view of the career landscape in the industry.
The course helped me understand the overall nature of the work and the knowledge and skills required for investment banking. Additionally, I gained insights into how certain theories, ratios, and indicators are applied in practice, and I acquired a basic understanding of the process and logic of financial modeling. What I am most satisfied with about the training course is the content related to financial modeling, which is very easy to understand, logical, and practical. Furthermore, Mr. Vinh is very welcoming and provides detailed explanations for questions in the class.
Go to the PE-IB professional training course at Vietnam Investment Nurturing Hub to hear Mr. Vinh Vo-Sang share more about PE – IB profession!
My point of view when entering this profession is to try to “must dance with any music” (be kidding, literally, I don’t know what to dance). So studying this Analyst-level PE-IB course is really valuable and helps a lot. From business analysis knowledge to modeling, the lecturer is easy to understand and clear the root cause of the problem, in addition, there are many practical examples for students to visualize. 10 sessions to cover all knowledge of analysis, model, law and process of making a deal for both IB and PE, is not an easy thing but the course has been done relatively completely.
Listening to the teacher sharing about his career, the experience he has done, I feel that this is indeed a passionate person, burning with the profession and spreading the fire to the students.
Wait for the teacher to open the Associate level course to continue studying!
Highly recommend for 3-4 students, fresh graduates like me (actually I’m cheating because I’ll just submit my thesis tomorrow), or friends who want to learn about the investment industry. in general, and PE in particular
The course is highly applicable. I now have a clear understanding of how to conduct standard research, and I hope to have more opportunities for learning. What makes me most satisfied about the training course is the way Mr. Vinh always openly answers everyone’s questions.
Very satisfied with the course. The content covered the fundamental standards of knowledge, which was both basic and useful, making it easy to synthesize and apply. The instructor was experienced, dedicated, and shared enthusiastically with a practical approach.
I am very satisfied with the training course. What I am most pleased with about the training course is the quality study materials and the dedication of the instructor in each session.
For me, this course provides several values: (1) an overall understanding of knowledge, (2) enhancement of financial modeling skills, and (3) a nurturing community at VN Investment Nurturing Hub for networking opportunities.
In my personal opinion, (1) Legal documents and (1) Financial modeling are two highlights of the program. In my current role, I haven’t been exposed to many documents like SPA, LOI, etc., so this is an opportunity for me to gain a comprehensive overview of essential information that needs to be grasped. Regarding financial modeling, even though I had practical experience before, the instructor’s methods (e.g. the plug-in) helped streamline the model-building process. The course’s value provides newbies with an overall perspective on the PE-IB industry’s roadmap/process and concretizes checklists for required skillsets and knowledge.
My name is Truong Yen Nhi, studying Bachelor of Business, majoring in Finance at University of Technology, Sydney, Australia and one of the mentees from 2020 to present. If I could only use one phrase to describe my mentorship journey with Mr. Vinh, I would like to choose the word “lucky”. The choice to leave Australia and return to Vietnam during the stressful pandemic situation seemed to completely disrupt learning and personal development opportunities. But in fact, more than a year has been a journey to find passion and motivation to keep going for myself.
Mr. Vinh is not just a person who guides mentees to develop according to their own strengths. Being able to work with him and collide with highly specialized practical knowledge also helps myself to understand more deeply about various areas of the Finance industry. Mr. Vinh’s perfectionism and patience have helped myself to be much more thorough in the process of working and making decisions.
With the desire to work in investment funds, listening to detailed sharing from an experienced teacher in this field has given to me a clear motivation and direction to be able to prepare for the future career from right now. As a mentee and a student, one of the sessions I learned during working with Mr. Vinh is that success always requires long-term efforts and perseverance. And constantly learning is the fastest way to success. In particular, always proactively equipping myself with relevant specialized knowledge and qualifications after graduation will help me stand out when looking for a job.
Although I have returned to Australia to continue my study abroad journey, Mr. Vinh always creates conditions for me to continue to learn and improve practical knowledge. Thank you Mr. Vinh for not only being my passionate teacher, but also a person who guide for the next generations throughtout knowledge and experience.
Wish Mr. Vinh always success in his upcoming plans and create more inspiration for students studying Finance in particular and other students in general.
My feeling on Mr. Vinh, I have 3 comments as follows:
(1) Inspirational: Actually, Mr. Vinh is an ideal model that I personally want to aspire to (a person who is good, dedicated and always oriented towards values for the community). So when I heard that it was Vinh’s mentee, I felt very very lucky. Starting as an outsider who has just entered the finance / investment field, I have faced many difficulties. However, every time I have a difficult time, I think of Vinh as the role model I want to work towards so that I can be more motivated and try harder. Thanks to that, I also overcame difficulties and achieved some small achievements in the early stages of my career.
(2) Friendly, willing to share: When referring to Mr. Vinh as a seasoned person in the industry, I was a bit worried at first because I was too young and inexperienced. However, Mr. Vinh talked to us very close, open and also very funny. Therefore, the more we talk, the more we feel that we don’t have much distance and are more open when sharing our problems without fear of being judged or yelled at ^^.
(3) Professional: This probably doesn’t need to be discussed anymore ^^ As a seasoned person, each of Mr. Vinh’s advice / each answer is very direct, straight to the problem that need to be solved. In addition, in the process of communication, he often gives advice on thinking, how to approach problems so that we have an overall perspective and progress faster.
My name is Nguyet Minh, currently working as a Business Analyst at a joint stock bank. As a final year student at the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City, I am very lucky to be introduced by ex-member in university club and applied to become a mentee of Mr. Vinh. Under his guidance, I was consulted about my future work and better understand the directions in the financial industry. Through direct training on the projects that Mr. Vinh does, I have learned many things: from how to find information quickly and accurately, how to draw and present charts in the easiest way to understand, how to write a report in a concise way… In addition, I also learned carefulness and meticulousness from him, although in the past I can also say that I am a careful person. I remember the most Mr. Vinh once said “Always be ready. When this gate closes, another one will open for us”. I feel very fortunate to have known and worked with him. I hope that if you (who are reading my sharing) have the opportunity, you will learn and draw many valuable things for yourself from Mr. Vinh.
It’s quite interesting that I have known Mr. Vinh from various occasions, starting with my volunteer work at the Vietnam Community of Investment Professionals (a CFA Society in Formation) since late 2017 where he’s the Chairman. But it was only until the Chevening Vietnam Career Mentorship program in 2021 that I actually had the chance to work directly and closely with him.
Since then, as his mentee, the journey was about being constantly reflective and taking the lead. During our very first call, he made it clear that the only way for this mentorship to work is for us to take sufficient initiative, both in defining the desired outcome and seeking help.
Along the way, I started to realize the importance of Self-awareness before trying to answer any questions about career or personal development.
I’ve also learnt about having Purposes – how to define them, how to set specific goals & milestones with a clear understanding of what I wish to achieve for each and every of them. But instead of trying to reach a one-off answer to a suitable job, I’ve carried with me the ability to continuously improve through self-review and reflection.
And most importantly, from Mr. Vinh, I become more conscious of Professionalism and Work Ethics – something so often underestimated, yet so critical especially in the Banking & Finance industry.
After the mentorship program, I was quite lucky to get into the desired career earlier than expected, and it’s no doubt that a big portion of that is contributed by the well-rounded experience I’ve had as his mentee.
The gap in experience and age between Mr. Vinh and me is quite large, but he shared his experience openly and frankly, giving me many valuable advices. In 6 months, he helped me identify strengths, weaknesses, short-medium-long-term career plans, understand the requirements for attitude, skills, knowledge and how to prepare for career development in the Finance industry. Thanks to the fact sharing and dedicated suggestions from someone with a lot of experience in the profession like Mr. Vinh, I have grown up and understood how to approach and think about different issues in my career and life. I have learned so many things from him but perhaps the three things that influenced me the most are 1) changing perspective on career and life, 2) being more proactive at work and 3) being thoughtful and caring the others. I applied your advice during my preparation and search for my first job. Thanks to that, I got the job I wanted at the company of my dreams. I feel extremely grateful and thank you for taking the time and enthusiasm to share with me.
I was able to work with Mr. Vinh through a personal recruitment of Mr. Vinh for the position of Personal Assistant to Partner cum Analyst. I am fortunate to be one of the three Mr. Vinh selected in this recruitment. Through this training session, Mr. Vinh gave me access to practical sessions in the investment market, especially related to M&A. We start from sessions on accurate accounting data entry to small pieces in a complete report on real estate market analysis. Not only teaching specialized knowledge, Mr. Vinh also guides and gives us advice on working attitude, which is essential for development in any working environment.
Through this mentorship and the process of working with Mr. Vinh, I have learned a lot from knowledge to a more professional working style to strengthen my work baggage in the near future. Thing I like most from Mr. Vinh lesson is communication between people in the group, even between boss-employees is very important. Information needs to be updated continuously to avoid affecting the work progress of the whole team. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to interact, work and be inspired by such a great person in the investment and CFA circles as Mr. Vinh. I really hope that Mr. Vinh will continue to spread many values to the young generation like me so that the young people have more opportunities in this fiercely competitive market.
Tuong’s luck in life in general and my current career in the finance and investment industry in particular is being mentored by Mr. Vo Sang Xuan Vinh since 2017, when Tuong was a final year student. At Chevening Vietnam Career Mentoring Program, an initiative of the British Government Chevening Scholars Community – Where Tuong is promptly equipped with appropriate knowledge, skills, and career development roadmap. Above all, it is the necessary attitude to live and work.
Real experience after working for 5 years since being mentored has helped Tuong understand more deeply the importance of thinking platforms and tools, learned from Mr. Vinh and the Career Program: Not only helps performance, but also assist in navigating career paths at critical stages in life.
I had the opportunity to be Mr. Vinh’s Mentee at Chevening Vietnam Career Mentoring 2020. This is one of the most useful and practical experiences of my time in college. I was guided by him – and learned a lot from him.
Anh Vinh is an extremely experienced and professional mentor in the field of investment. More than that, he was a respectable forerunner. He helps me plan my career path, as well as adds the necessary skills to be better prepared. I had the opportunity to approach an overview of the financial-investment sector, industry trends and even the myths of a freshmind outside the industry. His direction and guidance played a very important role in my future decision – working in the insurance industry – a decision that I still believe in and pursue to this day.
