Private Equity (PE) investment and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activities have demonstrated significant growth in Vietnam over the past two decades. Initially starting with small investment deals valued at a few million US dollars in the early 2000s, the PE investments and M&A transactions in Vietnam, facilitated by Investment Banking (IB) services, have reached billions of US dollars in total value in recent years. The active investment and restructuring trends  implemented by international investment funds and many large domestic corporations through PE investments and M&A demonstrated the growingly important role of PE and IB in Vietnam’s capital market.

While many PE funds and financial institutions have been hunting for PE and IB experts and qualified professionals, there is a scarcity of professionals with sufficient experience and practical skills in these specialisations. This shortage of  qualified human resources is mostly due to the relatively new nature of PE and IB in Vietnam and thus both formal training opportunities number of experts with hands-on experience are very limited.
