About the program
The Private Equity (PE) – Investment Banking (IB) Apprenticeship Program (PEIBAP) is an exclusive, hands-on, work-based program designed by Vietnam Investment Nurturing Hub for its alumni. Selected apprentices, who are ready to move beyond classroom theory into real deal environments, will work alongside industry experts on live projects, executing the actual daily tasks conducted for PE firms and Investment Banks. By fully engaging in this rigorous program, successful apprentices will not only gain hands-on experience required by recruiters, but also confidence to act as a deal-ready professional, prepared to break into PE – IB sector.
Program highlights
- Duration: 6 months, with 3 conditionally extendable 2-month periods
- Commitment: part-time engagement (minimum 20 hours/week)
- Commitment fee: VND4 million per month, payable every 2 months
- Expected outcomes: Apprentices will master essential Analyst skills, from research, report writing, and financial modeling to deal-supporting, and thereby gain a competitive edge for any future PE – IB jobs. Apprentices will also receive candid assessments on their strengths and weaknesses. Depending on performance, apprentices will be offered to join our collaborator deal team. In long term, successful and qualified apprentices may have the chance to become our team members.
Scope of apprenticeship program
Qualification 1 – Attitude & Professional Foundation
This qualification establishes the ethical standards and resilient mindset required to thrive in a high-stakes financial environment. Apprentices are expected to
- Apply detailed Codes of Ethics to real-world PE-IB projects, ensuring integrity in all actions
- Actively demonstrate a professional business attitude through teamwork, sharing knowledge, and maintaining an open-minded approach to continuous learning
Qualification 2 – Technical and Soft Skills
Apprentices will be guided to execute the core analytical, modeling, and reporting functions of dealmaker, and are coached to produce the same deliverables that junior analysts deliver in PE funds and Investment Banks. Apprentices will be instructed to manage interpersonal dynamics, present complex findings, and build industry relationships through daily practice on real-world PE-IB projects.
- Conduct research for 3-level analysis (macro-environment, industry and company) using standard framework
- Conduct company analysis to review business models and assess competitive moats from different angles
- Build dynamic 3-statement models and fully integrated DCF valuation models from real-life data
- Write complete professional investment memos to support the deal execution
- Present market overview, company overview, and financial model outputs to other team members
Qualification 3 – Business Skills
Apprentices will master workflow management, maintain high productivity while handling multiple workstreams.
- Manage multiple email threads across various projects using professional etiquette
- Prepare meeting agendas, coordinate logistics for professional meetings
- Execute supporting tasks, including administrative, secretarial, logistical, and project management activities
Qualification 4 – Core Knowledge
Apprentices will focus exclusively on PE – IB core knowledge (corporate finance, management accounting, strategy, business administration, and law), thereby strengthening applicable academic theories. Ultimately, this apprenticeship is designed to transform determined candidates’ theoretical knowledge into the practical, execution-level skills demanded by top-tier PE – IB firms.
